Name: Meb Keflezighi
Sport: Men's marathon

At 41, Meb Keflezighi is participating in what is likely his last Olympics in a sport where most athletes retire in their early 30s. Winning his first Olympic medal, a silver at the 2004 games, at the age of 29, Keflezighi has had a decorated marathon career.

The former runner at the University of California, Los Angeles, took home NCAA championships in cross country, the indoor and outdoor 5,000 meters and the outdoor 10,000. Other career highlights for Keflezighi include winning the Boston Marathon in 2014 and the New York City Marathon in 2009.

When to watch: The men's marathon begins at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time today.

Why we're cheering: With his retirement possibly on the horizon, Keflezighi is looking to focus his time on coaching and inspirational speaking while also opening running camps. During his career, Keflezighi has been involved with the Meb Foundation, which he built to inspire youth to live healthy, active and balanced lives.
